When planning your wedding, you want everything to be perfect, from the color of your flowers to the information on your save-the-date cards. As such, it can be a little traumatizing to discover a typo or error on your save-the-dates. Indeed, not only would it cause you acute embarrassment, but the mistake will also catch the eye of just about all the guests who receive the card, potentially confusing them in the process.

Given the importance of the save-the-date document and the information that it contains, you should do everything in your power to ensure that there are no typos or issues with it. In particular, you will want to avoid making the following four mistakes:

1. Incorrect Times

When reviewing your save-the-date cards, be sure to pay close attention to any times listed. If things are due to kick off at 10 am, but your card accidentally says 11 am or even 10 pm, it is likely to cause a great deal of confusion and consternation among your guests. The last thing you want is confused guests arriving half-way through the festivities.

2. Incorrect Names

One of the most common mistakes made on save-the-date cards and wedding invitations is the name. As such, you should ensure that you are spelling each of your guest's names correctly before sending anything. This is especially true if some of your guests have similar names or names that are spelled unusually. It is also wise to double-check the spelling of your own name, just in case.

3. Incorrect Addresses

After the time of the event, the addresses are the next most important piece of information on the card. With this in mind, you should carefully inspect them to ensure that they are correct. In particular, you will need to pay close attention to street addresses : 1040 Columbus Drive can easily become 104 Columbus Street if you aren't careful.

4. Incorrect Apostrophes

Though a misplaced or omitted apostrophe is unlikely to cause too much confusion among your guests, it may cause you some personal embarrassment. As such, it is always a good idea to double-check your apostrophes before mailing out your cards. You might just be glad that you did.

In Closing

Your save-the-date cards are the first impression of your special day. Typos can very easily ruin that. However, by ensuring that you do not make the mistakes listed in this article, you can ensure that your cards are well received and understood by all.
